Elizabeth Nightingale, beer-shop keeper, Savoy Street, appeared for having, on February 18th, sold one glass of rum. She was, after a short hearing, convicted in the penalty of £12.10s. The magistrates stated that they had considerable doubts of the case, and would strongly recommend the board to mitigate the penalty to the smallest sum possible.
Mr. J. Armstrong conducted the case for the defendant.
