A  WOMAN  CHARGED  WITH  BURGLARY
Catherine Wilson was charged at the borough police court, yesterday, with burglariously entering the Contractors' Arms, Pole Street, between 11.20pm on Thursday night and 3.10am the next morning, and with stealing therefrom, three towels, a pair of drawers, a tea-pot, 125 brass checks, and a half-penny.
P.C. Cartmel deposed that at 3.10am on Friday morning, he was on duty in Pole Street, when he noticed that the coal grate in front of the beerhouse had been removed, and was partially off. He called the landlady, and together they searched the premises, and found the prisoner in the kitchen. The prisoner became very excited and threated to blind the policeman. She ultimately observed that she had gone down into the cellar to shelter. She was remanded until Monday.
