ROBBERY

Joseph Brown was charged with stealing three saws from a house

at Ashton. Thomas Henry Fisher said that he had been working

at the house, which was a new one, and was not yet finished. 

On the 12th inst., he left the saws in the house, and before he went

home he made all secure. When he returned on Monday morning

they had been stolen.  [Saws produced and identified].

Mary Catterall, landlady at the Cross Guns Inn, said that the

 defendant called at her house on Sunday 13th inst., and offered one

of the saws for sale to her husband.

He was arrested by PC. Primer, to whom he said that he'd been

given the saws by a man called Snape.

Committed for trial.
