GEORGE HINDLE, a beershop keeper at

Avenham, was charged with permitting a party to play at dominoes

in his house, contrary to regulations in his licence. He fully

contradicted the charge, and said the dominoes were the property 

of one of his customers, and he had not sanctioned the use of them.

He was ordered to pay the costs, but after a violent remonstrance

on the part of the defendant, he declared his preference to take

lodgings with Mr. Martin, as he was innocent of the charge alleged.

The Bench, seeing mutiny in Court, inflicted a penalty of 20s. and costs.

The tenant of the Foresters' Arms, Avenham Lane, John Riding, died yesterday morning, without making a will, and  on behalf of the owners, Mr. Parker applied that the son, Francis Riding, who now came forward at his mother's request, should have permission to sell.

Mr. Parker added that it so happened that the house was on the list for objections

The Chairman pointed out the difficulty that the committee were in, but eventually he said that no objection could be offered to the widow selling for the time being.
