HAYMARKET TAVERN, Clayton's Court

HAYMARKET TAVERN
Clayton's Court, Market Place
*
Clayton's Court ran off the Old Shambles, close to the Market Place.
*

*
MINE HOSTS:
1841                     Edward Worthington
1861 - 62             Lawrence and Dorothy Almond
1865                    James Bolton
1867                    Thomas Heap
*
DEATHS.
On the 6th June 1843, Richard Worthington, aged 28 years died, and on the 13th April 1844, Sarah Worthington, aged 34 years died.
In the Census of 1841, Sarah, the wife of the landlord, was shown as 50 years of age, so perhaps this is a daughter who was not present at the time of the Census.
Alternatively, it could be the wife, with a mis-print of the aged, ie 54 years old.
MORE RESEARCH NEEDED!

to her house (a beer-house) in Clayton's Court.
He had a dead goose on the table, and he asked
her to buy it. She told him she would not have it.
