DESTRUCTIVE STORM
The greater pert of the wall which divides the Marsh from the Dock-yard is washed down. The Alice, Lytham Packet, was within it, and on its falling, drifted up to near the Wheatsheaf public-house, bottom of Watery Lane, where she lies snugly, and is uninjured.

Preston Chronicle 30th September 1843
It has to be remembered that this refers to a previous
'Wheatsheaf' on the same site as the present one.
A photograph of it would be fantastic!
